Scimitar-Horned Oryx

Scimitar-Horned Oryx

The Scimitar-Horned oryx originates from the deserts of North Africa and has adapted remarkably well to the dry, rocky climate in the Texas Hill Country. These large, 300+ pound animals carry long curving horns and offer hunters a great challenge.

Oryx bull - $6,000

Mouflon Sheep

Mouflon Sheep

The Mouflon Sheep originates from Southwestern Asia but is also widespread across Europe. Now, they are one of the more common introduced sheep species in Texas. They are known for their unique, shaggy fringe of long hair that runs down their neck and chest and their beautiful full-curl horns.

Mouflon Ram - $4,500

Gemsbok

Gemsbok

The Gemsbok is a poster-child plains game species from Southern Africa that quickly settled into its new home in Texas after being introduced, due to the similarity in terrain to their home range. Their striking black and white facial markings and long, straight horns make a beautiful trophy, and their meat is excellent.

Gemsbok bull - $8,500

Addax

Addax

Originally from North Africa, Addax are a conservation success story resulting from the exotic game ranching industry in Texas. Once near the brink of extinction, these antelope are now more prolific in Texas than they are in their home range. Their rarity, unique appearance, and long spiral horns make them a must-hunt when you are at SJK Ranch.

Addax Bull - $8,000

Blackbuck

Blackbuck

Similar to Axis deer, Blackbuck were introduced from India and Nepal and have now become one of the most popular exotic species in Texas. They may be small in size, but they make up for it in beauty. Their striking chocolate-brown to black coats contrasted with a white belly and facial markings, in addition to their tightly-spiraled horns, make them one of the prettiest exotic animals in Texas.

Blackbuck - $4,500

Elk

Elk

Elk may not be an extremely exotic species to most North American hunters, but they are considered exotic in Texas. It is believed that they once roamed the Hill Country several centuries ago before being shot out, and they have now been re-introduced to private ranches like SJK. If you have always wanted to hunt elk but don't want to make a trip out West, this is your chance.

Bull Elk - $8,500-$10,000
Cow Elk - $1,500

Fallow Deer

Fallow Deer

Fallow Deer are widespread across Europe and are one of the most popular game animals in their home range. Now, they are one of the most popular exotic animals in Texas too. The color of their coats can vary, but they all have white spots across their hide and carry beautifully palmated antlers that make them hard for hunters to resist.

Fallow Deer - $8,500

Nyala

Nyala

The Nyala is considered to be one of the most beautiful animals in all of Africa, with their native range spreading across South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and parts of Zambia. Getting to hunt these antelopes in Texas is an extremely rare treat.
